Thirty years of dollar princesses – trading cash for titles

I’m halfway finished reading The American Heiress and I’m enjoying it very much! It’s a hugely entertaining read, with a solid historical background. A little internet research on American heiresses of the late 1800s tells of a period of about thirty years in which matches were made between the daughters of American billionaires and the cash-poor British aristocracy. The resulting marriages in these cash-for-title deals had a variety of results. Some were happy, others were not.

Here’s a very interesting article about these dollar princesses, written by Daisy Goodwin, author of The American Heiress: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/you/article-1302195/Cash-titles-The-Billion-dollar-ladies.html
