Favorite thing about being a writer: It’s what I’ve wanted to do all my life. Being paid to write is like a dream come true. In the Internet age, being an author has led to a few very meaningful connections with other people. It’s been great to reach them through my books and blogging.
Biggest challenge as an indie author: Marketing and selling my work. I hit the New York Times list back in 2011. The market has changed significantly since then. It’s hard to keep up with technological change, marketing, and writing the best books I can.
Favorite book: That’s nearly impossible to answer, because I have so many favorite books. But if I absolutely had to choose one, I’d pick either Catcher in the Rye or The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
