Book Club Mom’s highly-recommended listens and reads of 2018

2018 was a great reading year for me. Fiction is my favorite genre, including mysteries and thrillers, but I also read a few nonfiction. I tried audiobooks for the first time and enjoyed them all. Here’s my list of highly-recommended listens and reads!

I also enjoyed this excellent fiction:

Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman

Dry by Neal Shusterman and Jarrod Shusterman

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

The Swans of Fifth Avenue by Melanie Benjamin

Have you read this terrific medical thriller?

  1. I’m going to post my list of 2018 books read on Friday, Barbara. I’ve read several of the books you highlight here, like Britt-Marie was Here, The Handmaid’s Tale, Tell No One, and of course The Bone Curse! (All first rate.) They were on my 2017 list. Let me know what you think of my 2018 list, which definitely includes The Storyteller Speaks.:-) I’m adding The Great Alone for my 2019 list since you recommend it.

    1. Hi Pam, I’ll be sure to check out your list! And I think you will like The Great Alone. I read it right before Christmas and it was a nice escape from the holiday madness. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. My dad gave me his copy of Killers of the Flower Moon and gave a couple Harlan Coben books to my mom (can’t remember which) that I snagged from a Little Free Library near my house. I loved Britt-Marie, and Hope Never Dies was hilarious! Great look back at the year.

  3. Some great books there thanks Barbara! a couple of yours I’ve read – a Handmaid’s Tale … hard to remember what stuck out for me – more recently a couple of the Lucinda Riley Seven Sisters series … great tales and wonderful escapes.

    1. I’ll have to look for the Seven Sisters. I liked A Handmaid’s Tale, but now that I’ve read it twice, I don’t think I’ll pick it up again. Thanks for reading my blog, Susan.

Tell me what you're thinking!
