On YouTube today – Talking book clubs with Book Club Mom

Hi Everybody!

I have a special group of book club friends and now we are in our 18th year. We have read a lot of books over the years and today on YouTube I’m talking about this great gift my book club friend gave to everyone in our group! Check out the full story down below:

Are you in a book club? Tell me your story in the comments below!

  1. That is so neat! I’ve always had an interest in doing pottery. Maybe one day when the kids are grown. Such a nice gift and how amazing that you guys have been meeting for so many years. ♥️

  2. What a lovely gift, Barbara. I’ve been a member of our local book club for 10 years and so enjoy our discussions and the friendships and continue to bud and bloom. Also a member of Rave Reviews Book Club, an online book club for authors and readers. Have found great reads made great friends there as well. 🙂 Happy reading and talking “books” together–a winning combination.

  3. What a lovely story Barb. Love the memory of an old library card preserved on a ceramic dish. Very thoughtful of your friend to give it to you.

I’m not a member of a book club but as an author, I’ve visited a few personally and via Skype. Enjoyed the experience and the enthusiasm book club members have for reading.

I’m an avid reader as well. Most writers are. I laughed at your comment: “What was I thinking?” —about tackling Herman Wouk’s Youngblood Hawke. It reminded me of my days as a young mother breastfeeding my baby and reading Irving Stone’s The Agony and The Ecstasy. Also a mammoth novel.

    Thanks for the memories.

    1. Hi Diana – thanks so much for visiting me here and on YouTube. Any book discussions are fun and author Skypes are the best. We Skyped with an author last year at my library book group and we were all so grateful for the time he took to talk with us.

And yes, I also spent a lot of time reading while nursing!

      Have a great weekend! 😀

  4. What a creative idea your friend had, Barbara. I love the library card dish! That’s really incredible your club has been meeting for so many years. I’ve never been in a book club, mainly because I can hardly stay up past 7:30 p.m., since I’m up at 3:30! Maybe when I retire. 🙂 Great video!

    1. Thank you, Jill. I love my little dish! I don’t think I could be in a book group either if I had to get up as early as you. I’m often contemplating sleep right after dinner! Thanks for reading and watching 😀

  5. This is just so wonderful! I really love the fact that creativity is being celebrated. Beautiful gift. Also, is so special when a book club stays together. Thanks for sharing. Xxx

    1. Hi Jennifer – isn’t it great? I love my little dish! Maybe we should start a cyber book club – I had one going years ago with my college friends, but we’ve petered out… Thanks for reading – I hope you didn’t get too much snow. We are freezing cold today – it was 5 degrees this morning and now it’s only about 12 and super windy!

Tell me what you're thinking!
