  2. My sincere condolences to you and your family. The loss of a mother, which I experienced in 2015, is a very special loss, in my case abrupt, unexpected even at age 96.

Among the books you recommend, I have read Rebecca West and Amy Tan (2 of her books). The others can be part of my to-read list. This a a beautiful tribute to your mother, who was obviously an avid reader.

  3. I’m so sorry for your loss, Barbara. This is a lovely post. No matter how “grown-up” we may be, the loss of a parent is always deep and powerful. My thoughts are with you and your family.

  4. Hi. Barbara, I appreciate book recommendations. “Refugee” is now on my list. I am very, very sorry to hear about the passing of your Mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Very poignant book selections, especially the sentimental favourites.

  5. This is such a lovely post and tribute to your mum. I’m sorry again for your loss. I avoided books about mothers and daughters for quite a while after my mum died but then I came back to them with greater enjoyment as they reminded me of all the happy times. If you ever feel you need a non-fiction book about loss of a mother I highly recommend Motherless Daughters by Hope Edelman, I found the book such a help when I lost my mum. Sending hugs x

  6. Reblogged this on Book Club Mom and commented:

Hi and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. I was going to do a special post featuring books about motherhood, but I’m just going to reblog this October 2019 post instead.

    1. Hi Robbie. Thank you. It was. It was also my birthday the next day and it was a big one, so I was feeling a little down. But it’s all good now. Thanks for reading and commenting.
