On YouTube today – books coming up and what I’ve been doing

Hi Everyone – I’m back on YouTube today talking about what I’ll be reading soon and what I’ve been doing. I hope you’ll pop over and see me!

Thanks for visiting – come back soon!

  1. Hi Barbara, You look great in real life! Composed and relaxed. ๐Ÿ™‚ I will be interested to hear your opinion on “Consider This.” I found Chuck Palahniuk interesting and parts of the book are disturbing. Many gems. I may read it again. Like John Howell says, “you are a star.”๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I have thought about doing a YouTube video; I hope I look as composed and “with-it” as you do.

Also, I admire your cross-word puzzle efforts and mentioning the Cross-word puzzle dictionary, which I didn’t know even existed. I like the quiet, thoughtful way you get things done without much fanfare. Thank you, Barbara!

    1. Oh thank you, Marian. It’s weird seeing yourself on video – that took some getting used to. We’re all pretty used to seeing our faces in a still photograph, but not at all comfortable seeing our faces in motion! I don’t think I could complete a NYT crossword without one of those dictionaries – it’s really just a different kind of thesauraus. Thanks so much for stopping by and watching. I’ve been off the blog for a few days – just catching up. Hope you are well ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Derrick – I did not know that, but I’m not surprised that you set cryptic crosswords! I’m sure you have an excellent and wide vocabulary. Do you do crosswords now for fun?

  3. What a clever idea for a post! I neighbor Chuck P. in the alphabetical list of Oregon authors (I like to say we rub elbows, but that’s not safe anymore). I can’t pronounce his name either…I just say, “Chuck Puhlunk” and people know who I mean (I think).

    1. Hi Tammie – thanks for stopping by. I actually watched an author interview and paid attention to how his name was pronounced, but when I actually did my YouTube, I promptly forgot! Hope you are doing well. Was it a good gardening day?

      1. That sounds like something I would do! Gardening is going good…spent several hours yesterday working on my veggies and container plants ๐Ÿ˜Š

      2. I’m trying to limit my trips to stores, so I bought some seeds for herbs at the grocery store and will plant some pots soon. Cold and rainy today, though!

    1. Thanks, George. This was kind of spur of the moment, but I thought why not just do a new video? Everyone is more curious about how people are spending their time these days. Thanks so much for watching. I hope you and your family are well.

  4. Such a treat to see your friendly face again. I’ve loved crossword puzzles my whole life–another influence from my dad. Back when my kids were small and before internet, if I wasn’t able to finish a crossword puzzle, I’d use a dictionary or whatever I could to finish it. Good way to learn, right?

You’re a natural on camera. Keep those videos coming. xo

    1. Hi Jennifer – thank you so much for watching my video. It was a spur of the moment take. I had a Zoom work meeting right before and I just knocked it out quickly. Great to know you’re a fellow crossword person who uses a dictionary – it’s definitely educational. And my father, like yours, was a big crossword puzzler. He did them every day, plus the bridge, the jumble and whatever else was published that day. Keeps you sharp!

      1. He was. I’ll always remember the day I graduated college, my mother, father and I packed up the car and we drove home. It was a four-hour ride and we spent the whole time doing the Sunday NYT Crossword. Finally finished later that night!

Tell me what you're thinking!
