    1. Thank you, Susan. Although my birthday was in May, I only recently received this gift because of the Covid closures. It was a great surprise! Thanks so much for stopping by πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Bette – thanks for stopping by! My birthday was in May, but because of the Covid closures, I only recently got this book from my friend. So having a surprise like this was fun πŸ™‚ Hope you are doing well!

    1. Hi Derrick – I agree with you that reading lists are irresistable. The only Henry James book I’ve read is Washington Square and that was a few decades ago. πŸ˜‰

  1. Barbara, what a wonderful gift!! πŸ˜€ It looks adorable and I’m putting this on my birthday list for September – I love the look of it. So many interesting sections and I like the one about free book areas. Today I read how a 12-year-old girl in the UK has done up an old phone box into a book exchange area – so sweet and a perfect use for the classic but redundant old red phone box! Happy Reading and bet you’re TBR has already doubled!!

  2. What a perfect book for those of us who love books! I really like the around the world book challenge, and was impressed by the book chosen for Canada. You will have hours of enjoyment. Thanks for sharing it with us. I felt like we were in the same room. xo

    1. Hi Darlene – thanks so much for watching my video and your kind comment. I think someday I will try the read around the world challenge – it will take me a long time, though! Hope you are doing well.

    1. I know, isn’t that book great? And yes, my hair is ridiculously long. I can’t wait to get it cut, but I really need highlights too. Patience…that’s what I tell myself πŸ™‚ Thanks for the visit, Jennifer!

  3. That books looks like so much fun (although dangerous for those of us with out of control to-read lists). I might have to see if my library has a copy. Oh, and your hair is really cute :))

    1. Hi Tammie – I hope you can get your hands on the book. It’s a lot of fun to look through. And thanks for the compliment about my hair. It’s way too long, but at least I can pull it back. My bangs have suffered at my own hands, but what else can we do? Hope you are doing well πŸ™‚

  4. I enjoyed your video. You speak so well (and look GREAT) and explain your special birthday gift in a wonderful way. Okay, asking a video question, because soon I’ll have to video some of my lessons to my writing students. Do you have your phone hanging on something, or is someone videoing for you? ;-0 ❀

    1. Hi Pam. Thank you! Somtimes I hold the phone, but most of the time I have it on a tripod. It’s not meant for that, but I’m able to prop it up and not worry about it falling. It takes a while to figure out the right height, distance and angle, and also the lighting. But it gets easier each time. I made this one because we’re going to do some how-to craft videos for work and I wanted to practice. Good luck!

      1. Thanks for the tip. I don’t have a tripod but will see if I can jerry-rig something (my guy’s name is Jerry, and he’s the one who will do the rigging). πŸ™‚ I think your video is great!

      2. Haha – I like that pun! I also experimented with stacked books and they worked well. Then I remembered we had a tripod so I moved to that. πŸ™‚

      3. Told my daughter my dilemma and she had a cookbook tripod that should work perfectly. I will try it out! But you would’ve blushed if you heard the praise I gave you and your video. πŸ‘

      4. Oh you are too nice, Pam. I used Video Editor which came with my laptop and it was very easy to learn. Thanks for your comment and good luck with your first video!

  5. Happy belated birthday, Barbara, and what a great book! My bookcase is bursting at the seams right now, but I don’t want to get rid of any. πŸ™‚ I hope you had a great birthday and 4th! πŸ’—

Tell me what you're thinking!
