Hey Everyone!
I’m heading to the beach soon for a quick day trip. Now I’m trying to decide whether to bring my Kindle, which is packed with new books, or a paperback so I don’t have to worry about sand and surf.
Meantime, there are plenty of great book recommendations out there so take a look at what these bloggers are saying:

And who can resist checking out a book that’s actually titled Beach Read? See what two of my favorite bloggers have to say about this new book by Emily Henry:

Forget the books Barbara…take me! A day at the beach sounds wonderful. I prefer a paperback in the sun that way you don’t have to deal with the glare. From the ocean! Have a great trip. Drive safe!

Hi Jill – yes I went with the paperback for all those reasons! Thanks for reading!

I would take a paperback to the beach and bring the kindle for in the hotel room or terrace. I usually have two books on the go, a paperback and a kindle. I took my current paperback to the pool a couple of days ago, where I also love to read. A huge gust of wind came and picked it up and tossed it into the water! A bit soggy but I’m still reading it. Have a great beach vacation.

Hi Darlene – I’m not too careful with my paperbacks – that makes the reading more relaxing! I’d keep reading a soggy paperback too! Thanks for the visit 🙂

I’m happy for you that you can even GO to the beach . . . here in CA, it’s feeling dicey to go pretty much anywhere this summer. Happy reading and relaxing!

Hi Stephanie – I went with the paperback of Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. It got wet and sandy but, hey, I was at the beach afterall! Thanks for reading 🙂

Barbara, Thanks for the links to the recommendations,. I read The Flatshare and The Wedding Party. If you have room in your luggage, bring both a paperback and your Kindle. Enjoy your beach getaway!

Hi Natalie – I traveled light and it was just for a day, so I went with a paperback – Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. I read it years ago and have wanted to read it again! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I wouldn’t dream of reading on a beach, but I am currently enjoying Love in the time of Cholera well away from sand and surf 🙂

Hi Derrick – I don’t normally like reading outside, but I can do it on the beach. I read Love in the Time of Cholera about 10 years ago – thought it was excellent. Hope you’re enjoing it 🙂

I usually take an actual book, but I pulled out my son’s Nook Glowlight and it was perfect for the beach. Very light and no back-lighting. Have a fantastic beach day, Barbara!

Hi Teri – yes technology and sand and bright lights aren’t a good combination. I went with the paperback! Thanks for reading 🙂

Thanks for the link! I hope you love your beach day. What a treat! I usually bring along a paperback for beach days, since I don’t trust myself not to get sand and sunscreen all over my devices. (Although I actually bought a Kindle protector for the beach a few years ago — but it was too awkward to actually use.) Anyway… enjoy!

Hi Lisa, I’ve never heard of a Kindle protector. I went with the paperback – I didn’t want to worry about my technology! Thanks for reading!

I’d take a paperback, Barbara, and a day at the beach sounds lovely. We went backpacking and hiking last weekend and had a day at the beach. But it was a bit cold up here in Northern Calif. A different site to behold: social distancing and masks galore. The experience was still soothing to watch the waves and smell the salt air. Enjoy! And maybe someday I’ll enter into the Kindle world. 🙂 Thanks for the links, too. 💗

I think I remember what it’s like to go to the beach…barely. I prefer a secondhand paperback because I don’t have to worry too much over it being stolen. I can’t imagine taking any sort of device. As for beach reads….does Jaws count? :))

Oh my, Jaws! I re-read that a few summers ago! I went with an old paperback – that was a good decision. Devices and sand don’t mix well. Thanks for reading, Tammie 🙂

I would LOVE to go to the beach! But it’s way too hot here now. I have brought my Kindle to the beach – it’s a paperwhite so glare is not a problem, and I kept it in a plastic Zip-lok. I’m too old to roll around in the sand – we sit in nice high chairs!
