Book Club Mom’s Author Update – Jill Weatherholt

Author name: Jill Weatherholt

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book: A Home for Her Daughter

News: New Release

Thanks so much for inviting me to share my latest release A Home for Her Daughter, Barbara. It’s available in stores and online always at my website.

Getting prepared for a release is never easy, especially with a full-time day job. This time around was more challenging as my fifth Love Inspired book was due on August 31st. To throw another ball into the mix, my next proposal, which included a five-page summary of the book along with the first three chapters, was due October 1st. This book was sold as part of a three-book contract with only a one paragraph blurb, so I really didn’t have a solid foundation at that point. Eek!

Since August of 2015, after winning a contract in a contest, I’ve been writing under contract for Harlequin Love Inspired. It’s been a whirlwind experience and an entirely different animal than writing for my eyes only.

Juggling story ideas in my 55-year-old brain is challenging. I’m not a writer who can write or work on two books at the same time, but sometimes I have no choice. I can be in the middle of writing a new book when SURPRISE, an email pops into my box with line or copy edits from my editor for the previous manuscript I’d submitted. Working on one project at a time isn’t an option when you’ve signed your life away on a multi-book contract, but it’s a blessing I never imagined and one I’m truly grateful for.

Another blessing is to be part of a wonderful community of bloggers. Your friendship and support keeps me going, so thank you!

  1. Early into my second-act as a writer, I met Jill, who has read and reviewed my memoir, Mennonite Daughter.

Her work ethnic is astonishing, and while she is a prodigious author, she also works full-time for the city of Charlotte. I applaud all of her books, including the latest release, A Home for Her Daughter.

    1. I agree, Robbie. Short stories are more doable when it comes to working on more than one project. Yes, entering that contest was one of the best thing I’ve ever done. I encourage all writers to keep their eyes open to contests available to them. Have a great weekend.

    2. Isn’t that great? Jill is a wonderful example of talent, hard work and perseverance. And such a fun blogging friend! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by to support Jill, Robbie.

      1. Thanks so much for being the perfect hostess, Barbara. Although I’ve stepped away from WordPress for a while to prepare for NaNo and deal with other life challenges, it’s nice to see my blogging buds. 🙂

  2. Hello Jill, it was interesting to learn more about your writing practice and how you juggle multiple deadlines. You’ve written such good books. Each one I’ve read has left a warm spot in my heart. Thanks to you, Barbara, for sharing your blog with Jill today.

    1. It certainly can be a struggle at times, Sherrey. I’m so happy to hear you’re left with a good feeling after reading one of my books. That’s always my goal. Thanks for stopping by.

    2. Hi Sherrey – thank you so much for stopping by to support Jill. I 100% agree with your comment about Jill’s books leaving a warm spot in the heart – a perfect description!

    1. Aw…thank you so much, Donna. I really appreciate your support. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the photo you shared while reading one of my books. I think you were the first reader to ever do that. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Hi Barbara, Thank you for featuring Jill on your blog. I’m in awe of her talent and writing practice while working full-time. Wishing you both fun and success with NaNoWriMo.

    1. Thanks so much, Natalie! Keeping up with everything is a challenge, but writing definitely is a stress reliever for me. Since this might be Barbara’s first go at NaNoWriMo, I might need to stay on top of her! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!

  4. Like so many here, I am a huge fan of Jill, and her work ethic (and the way she inspires me), and her novels! I just finished this newest one and wrote a review on Amazon and Goodreads. Three cheers to Jill for writing books that give us hope and faith in love.

Tell me what you're thinking!
