Book Club Mom’s October 2020 recap

I had a great October, but it was very busy at work and at home. Despite the busy times, I managed to squeeze in some good books, a movie and some short fiction, as well as keep up with author updates and two new indie author profiles. And I made the leap to Instagram, so far a lot of fun! Click here if you want to connect with me there.

I’ve started using the new block editor, so bear with me as I find my way around.

These are the last of some flowers I grew from seeds over the summer. I forget the name, but aren’t they pretty?

Here’s a rundown of what happened on Book Club Mom this month.

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier – 5 stars

The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand – 3.5 stars

All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely – 4.5 stars

Looker by Laura Sims – 4 stars

    1. Hi Derrick – thank you, that sounds right. I didn’t buy planters this year and only grabbed seeds I could get at the grocery store. I grew a whole yard full of 4 o’clocks and they were so pretty. Judging by the number of seeds they have popped out, I think I will see a lot of them growing next year.

  1. Looks like you had a great month! Good luck with Instagram! I had one years ago and ended up deleting it and haven’t tried it again since. I’m not real good with the whole social media thing haha. I tried watching the Netflix Rebecca movie and got bored after about 20 minutes and turned it off. Maybe I’ll try to find the Hitchcock version to watch instead.

    1. Hi Stephanie – I started Instagram because we just started an Instagram at work and I wanted to learn how to manage it. Seems pretty easy. I’m not much of social media person either, except for Book Club Mom. No filtered poolside umbrella drink pictures with painted toes!

  2. Kudos to you for your productive October, Barbara.

Last evening we watched the latest adaptation of Rebecca with Lily James (Downton Abbey’s Rose) and Armie Hammer. Creepy enough for Hallowe’en!

  3. derrickjknight beat me to it, nasturtiums! Was talking about them today! The leaves are nice in a green salad. A few. They have a mustardy flavour … good for sinus. You’ve had a very busy month Barbara – I wonder how November will be, good grief, it’s tomorrow. Then we’ll be saying ‘Christmas next month’ – omg …

  4. Your flowers are beautiful, Barbara, and yes, October was busy. Our weather feels like July rather than November, but still beautiful. Is Christmas really just around the corner? 🙂 Great recap!

Tell me what you're thinking!
