Book Club Mom’s Author Update: News from C. Faherty Brown

Hi Everyone, Happy Friday! I recently caught up with author C. Faherty Brown to learn about her TWO NEW BOOKS. Read more about them here:

I learned years ago that brevity is my friend, so my news is short. I just published SNOW NIGHT, a fictional story inspired by a story my grandmother told me many years ago. It has sadness within, but it is full of love and how we move forward. Earlier this year, I published ANOTHER YELLOW DOOR, a follow-up to my favorite piece of work, YELLOW DOOR, (though SNOW NIGHT runs a close second.)

Book Club Mom’s Author Update: News from Richard Fulco

Hi Everyone, Happy Friday! I recently caught up with author Richard Fulco to learn about his newest book, We Are All Together. Learn more about it here:

Author name: Richard Fulco

Genre: Literary Fiction

Books: We Are All Together and There Is No End to This Slope

News: We Are All Together by Richard Fulco, on sale November 2022

It’s 1967, the Summer of Love. When twenty-one-year-old guitarist Stephen Cane’s promising band falls apart, he is forced to move back home with his Christian mother. Unwilling to give up on his rock and roll dreams, however, Stephen flees to New York so he can patch things up with his former friend and bandmate, Dylan John, a pioneer of psychedelic rock whose band is on the verge of making it big. When Dylan unexpectedly quits Red Afternoon to be a civil rights activist, Stephen is handed the opportunity of a lifetime.

Lured into the trappings and pitfalls of celebrity and confronted with a dangerous secret, Stephen spirals into self-doubt and misplaced loyalties. Against the backdrop of a nation in turmoil, Stephen questions his dreams, his parents’ loyalties to a bygone era, his inability to choose wisely in love, and the unfortunate legacy of racial discrimination.

We Are All Together addresses a nation struggling with its mythological past and the effects it has had on the integrity of the individual. Does the artist owe the world anything? Does the ailing world need another rock star?

Book Club Mom’s Author Update: News from Robbie and Michael Cheadle

Hi Everyone, I recently caught up with children’s author Robbie and her son, Michael. Today they are sharing their new book with you!

Author names: Robbie and Michael Cheadle

Genre: Children

Book: Haunted Halloween Holiday

News: Robbie Cheadle and her son, Michael, are thrilled to announce that their new book, Haunted Halloween Holiday, is available from TSL Publications and Lulu.com. This entertaining story is aimed at children aged 5 to 9 years old and is beautifully illustrated with Robbie’s fondant and cake art illustrations.

Count Sugular and his family are invited to a party at the Haunted House in Ghost Valley. He and his wife, Witch Honey, decide to hire a gingerbread caravan and enjoy a weekend away. Their young son, Baby Howler, the only male banshee in their extended family, has been keeping them busy with his noisy wailing. A night of sunbathing on the shore of Meringue Pond followed by a Halloween Party the next evening would be lovely.

At sunset the evening before Halloween, the family and their friends set off by broomstick and flying coffin for their holiday adventure. What a wonderful time they are going to have.

Haunted Halloween Holiday has subtle messages for readers about acceptance of difference and dealing with depression, but it is mainly an entertaining fantasy read for children. The language is descriptive but suitable for the target audience and learner readers.

The illustrations are intended to delight young readers and stimulate their imaginations by depicting all sorts of magical creatures fashioned from fondant including Stinkpot the Troll and his sons, Liquorice and Tar, Sourball the black cat, Witch Goody and her golden swans, and Jack Frost who creates beautiful frosty pictures.

The book also contains several fun limericks to introduce the various characters and set the stage for their roles in the story.

Meet Jack Frost

Jack Frost carves pictures during the night
In the morning they sparkle, frosty and white
His work’s individual and unique
He has an interesting technique
Discovering his flower designs is a delight

Book Club Mom’s Author Update: News from Joanne Kukanza Easley

Hi Everyone, I recently caught up with Women’s Fiction author Joanne K. Easely. Today she’s sharing her book news with all of you!

Author name: Joanne Kukanza Easley

Genre: Historical Women’s Fiction (20th Century)

Books: Sweet Jane, Just One Look, I’ll Be Seeing You

News: My imprint, Red Boots Press, will publish my third novel, I’ll Be Seeing You in October 2022. A saga spanning five decades, I’ll Be Seeing You, explores one woman’s life, with and without alcohol to numb the pain.

Young Lauren knows she doesn’t want to be a ranch wife in Palo Pinto County, Texas. After she’s discovered by a modeling scout at the 1940 Fort Worth Stock Show Parade, she moves to Manhattan to begin her glamourous career. A setback ends her dream, and she drifts into alcohol dependence and promiscuity. By twenty-four, she’s been widowed and divorced, and has developed a pattern of fleeing her problems with geographical cures. Lauren’s last escape lands her in Austin, where, after ten chaotic years, she achieves lasting sobriety and starts a successful business, but happiness eludes her.

Fast forward to 1985. With a history of burning bridges and never looking back, Lauren is stunned when Brett, her third husband, resurfaces, wanting to reconcile after thirty-three years. The losses and regrets of the past engulf her, and she seeks the counsel of Jane, a long-time friend from AA. In the end, the choice is Lauren’s. What will she decide?

I’ll also be re-releasing my first two books with better pricing.

Book Club Mom’s Author Update: News from JP McLean

Author name: JP McLean

Book to feature: Blood Mark

News to share: I’m pleased to share the news that Blood Mark, the first in a brand-new paranormal thriller series, will be released on October 19, 2021.

What if your lifelong curse is the only thing keeping you alive? Abandoned at birth, life has always been a battle for Jane Walker. She and her best friend, Sadie, spent years fighting to survive Vancouver’s cutthroat underbelly. That would have been tough enough without Jane’s mysterious afflictions: an intricate pattern of blood-red birthmarks that snake around her body and vivid, heart-wrenching nightmares that feel so real she wakes up screaming.

After she meets the first man who isn’t repulsed by her birthmarks, Jane thinks she might finally have a chance at happiness. Her belief seems confirmed as the birthmarks she’s spent her life so ashamed of magically begin to disappear. Yet, the quicker her scarlet marks vanish, the more lucid and disturbing Jane’s nightmares become—until it’s impossible to discern her dreams from reality, and Jane comes to a horrifying realization:

The nightmares that have plagued her since childhood are actually visions of real people being stalked by a deadly killer. And all this time, her birthmarks have been the only things protecting her from becoming his next victim.

Brief bio and other books: JP (Jo-Anne) McLean has received honourable mentions from the Whistler Independent Book Awards and the Victoria Writers Society. She lives with her husband on Denman Island, which is nestled between the coast of British Columbia and Vancouver Island. Her other titles include the seven-book series, The Gift Legacy.
