Hi Everyone! Today I’d like to welcome Donna Connolly, today’s contributor to What’s That Book. Thank you, Donna!
Title: The Little Cafe by the Lake
Author: Joanne Tracey
Genre: Contemporary Romance Plus
What’s It About? I am a huge fan of Jo Tracey’s books. This has been my favourite one so far. If you are looking for a break filled with fun, friendship, food…and some sultry, fiercely independent characters, this book is for you. As a bonus, numerous mouth-watering recipes are included.
How Did You Hear About It? I was fortunate to receive an advanced copy of this book (which was just released on November 4, 2021).
Closing Comments: As many of the main characters in this novel also appeared in ‘Happy Ever After’ and ‘Wish You Were Here,’ this reading felt like catching up with old friends. If you haven’t yet read any of Jo Tracey’s books, I highly recommend them. Although this book is part of a series, it can also easily be read as a stand-alone.

A short and sweet review, Barbara. I like the sound of the recipes.
Hi, Roberta – It is a pleasure to meet you here. As a reader, I appreciate short and succinct reviews so try to follow this model myself (the operative word here being ‘try’). 😀
It’s a nice touch! Thanks for reading, Robbie.
Judging my the colorful cover and your review, sounds like a great read, Barbara!
Hi, Marian – I also love the colourful covers that Jo has used for this series. They definitely hint at the colour and fun contained inside the pages.

The title alone screams cozy fun read. 🙂
Great minds think alike. I also used the words “cozy and fun” to describe this book. How cool is that?
🙂 Must be true then!

Hi Jill – I thought of you when I saw this book 🙂 Thanks for the visit!
Thanks for the recommendation Donna! I try to stick to library books – and Chicago libraries don’t carry Joanne’s books. I may need to splurge…I’m always looking for fiercely independent characters.
Hi, Janet – Thanks so much for stopping by. Our local library does not carry Joanne’s books either. But, the kindle versions are very affordable and make it very convenient to read (without the wait). I hope that all is well with you.
Hi Janet – thanks for stopping by to read Donna’s review. I work in a library so I’m all for library books!
I read and loved Happy Ever After and look forward to reading Wish You Were Here. Now, I need to get The Little Cafe by the Lake on my TBR list. I love knowing that I’ll be able to catch up on some of my “friends” from her first book… and maybe get a few new recipes 🙂
Yup, Jo’s books are totally addictive. And as I mentioned to Betsy, it’s best not to read them when hungry! 😀 I’m looking forward to catching up together soon.

I am a Jo Tracey fan and read Little Cafe about two weeks ago. It is a good read and I recommend it to anyone who loves a sweet story with relatable characters and a happy ending. Jo writes with warmth, humor, and an insightful understanding of family dynamics. The brother/sister relationship in this book is heartwarming. Thanks for sharing Donna’s review.
